Matt Pendrill enjoys moving the needle and bringing ideas to life, both as a Client Service Principal and in the DJ booth. Ambitious, reliable and determined, he bridges technology and Thoughtworkers together, collaborating with partners to solve their biggest problems and enabling our product teams to do their best work. When he’s not carefully crafting the perfect musical ambiance, be it on a dancefloor or in his living room, you might catch Matt travelling, golfing or programming. But whatever he’s doing, he’s most likely snapping a ton of photos along the way. So, based on his skills and interests, can you guess his favourite product? Here’s a hint, you may want to hit pause and take the headphones off before venturing a guess.

Discover this and more in this week’s Spotlight.

Tell us about what you do in 50 words or less.

As a Client Service Principal, I work together with our partners to find solutions to their biggest problems and enable our product teams to do their best work everyday.

What’s the most interesting challenge you’re working on?

Helping our partners to navigate the challenging economic climate through consistent and reliable product initiatives that drive impact and revenue for their businesses.

What inspired you to have the career you have today?

As cliché as it sounds, I’ve always had an interest in people and technology, and this career is a perfect marriage of those two. I feel so fortunate to be able to work with partners who have super ambitious ideas about the future and a team of intelligent Thoughtworkers who help to bring these ideas to life.

What achievement are you most proud of in your career to date?

A couple of years ago, we helped a large internet services company launch their first consumer product, a VPN, to market. Its success has since spawned a number of other consumer products and created a model for bringing new products to market for this company.

If you could go back in time and give yourself career advice, what would it be?

Find what moves the needle and do more of that.

What do you love to do outside of work?

Traveling, DJing, golfing, taking photos and programming.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, what album, movie, and book would you take with you?

Album – Being Funny In A Foreign Language by The 1975
Movie – Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back
Book – The 99% Invisible City by Roman Mars and Kurt Kohlstedt

And finally, what’s your favourite product and why?

As someone with a deep passion for music, I can’t imagine a better platform than Spotify. With an extensive library and personalized playlists, it offers a truly seamless listening experience. However, I’d love to see a couple of improvements:

1. Integrations with DJ software like Serato or TRAKTOR, and

2. Enhanced features to better connect with friends and explore music.

Otherwise, it’s perfect. 🙂
